tHE EROTIC MOTHER
ONE DAY LIVE SYMPOSIUM
THURSDAY 27TH AUGUST
GLOBAL
There’s a secret,
The mothers aren’t speaking out loud,
But I somehow know it
Because they are seeking me out.
Pulling me into the corners of their own lives,
Whispering
“How come you’re feeling so alive??
Why is this numbness finding me in the shadows?
Why don’t I want to fuck,
Why am I feeling half hollow?
Not all the time.
Not every day
or every night.
But Why am I feeling
like I need to
claw towards
my own light.
Why do I feel hungry for more.
Why does the guilt
then arrive at my door.
Why is there a weight on my chest.
Why is there a tightness
to my breath.
I have beautiful children
and a beautiful life.
But something is just
Not feeling quite right.”
Conversation after conversation. I get it. There’s enough context here to understand the why.
Hormones and postpartum. Sleep deprived and undernourished. Kids and school runs. Economic stress and pressure to get it all done. Missing each other like ships in the night. A lack of the village and a lack of rest. All the things we could use to tick the boxes as to why this craving is there.
But when we drop deeper none of it ticks the box…. Because theres a wilder nature within each of us that’s been domesticated and we cannot just simplify ourselves.
The good mother
Present mother
Not on social media mother
No screen time mother
Organic mother
The always somewhat happy mother
Or guilt for crashing out mother
the self critical mother who shouldn’t be so self critical mother.
The unsupported mother.
All these societal pressures we internalise. And the pressure has to go somewhere. But we suppress and dilute. Minimise and justify. We remove our very human desire.. Wants. Hopes. Dreams. Anything that has us come alive.
And make peace with what is. We’re good at that. But our kids see a duller version of mum. And honestly, I think we could all be having a lot more fun.
The Hunger of the modern mother
Lives within many of us.
Like I said, Not all the time, Not every day or every night.
But the surges come cyclically.
The whisper and yearning for more.
More life for ourselves to experience. More aliveness to taste.
Not out there (Points to the world). But in here (Taps heart).
You know this is you if you are moving with cycles of numbness. Moments of knowing yourself deeply, then feeling like there’s still a whole world to discover. A feeling of surely this can’t be it.
Then the guilt hits.
Because who are you to feel un-satiated from these beautiful children, and a beautiful life.
There’s a subtle resentment, that builds up in moments.
And you think it’s them, or him, but you know deeper down it’s all the half truths bubbling away within.
The things you don’t want to look at just yet. When the kids are older, When you’re sleeping more, When there’s more time.
You become half a woman. With half a desire.
Half wanting to fuck
Half want to fight
Half wishing away the mundane years of your life.
Half dancing with apathy
Half focused on who your kids need you to be.
It’s not that you don’t want a slow life, you just want to feel ALIVE in it.
Your libido dropping, Or you unconsciously use it as a bargaining tool.
Being in some sort of race to the bottom of who has it harder, or who is more under resourced.
Outsourcing your life force. You barely recognise yourself in the mirror.
You’ve maybe got a business that feels like it lives in your head ,not your heart most of the time.
Or you have ideas, that you can never quite bring to life.
You look at your beautiful kids when they sleep.
Eyelashes thick, It makes you weep.
Your heart floods for them.
But you know that you need to find yourself again.
You need to feel what it’s like to no longer be clawing for your own light
Or pretending like it’s not a priority in this season of life.
You need to feel what it’s like to wake up and feel a sense of possibility.
To know that you are a genuine co-creator of reality.
Your kids need to see that spark in your eye, the sway of your hips,
and the taste of YOUR real life, Remembered once again.
To feel deeply, to have creative erotic life force ripple through your body.
To feel turned on and inspired by being in response to life around you.
To fuck and make love , make money and create cool shit that feels like honey and turn life into art.
Stop self censoring your sensuality. Feel connected to your daily reality.
No matter how it looks, to own your wants, and speak your truths.
And genuinely love the woman in the mirror staring back at you.
I know this because I’ve been there too.
I know what the suppression of self does to the human spirit.
A slow subtle crumble that you almost don’t even notice in real time. Until you wake up in 10 years time and look around.
“This life no longer feels like mine”.
And what it’s like to wait for aliveness and erotism to arrive from the outside. And I know what it feels like to be liberated from it. To self generate.
I am, however, a mother just like you, walking my journey in real time too.
So I’ve brought you some of the most phenomenal women in my personal circle
So that you feel held in the becoming of self.

1PM AWST // 3PM AESTSigourney Belle
Wild Muse: Creativity, motherhood and the sacred art of truth telling.
Sigourney Belle Weldon is an Australian entrepreneur, bestselling author, and women’s health physiotherapist whose work centers on motherhood as a site of creative and cultural power.
Raised on North Island in the Houtman Abrolhos, off the coast of Western Australia, she graduated with distinction from Curtin University in 2011 and built her early career specializing in both neurology and women’s health.
Her studies later carried her into matriarchal medicine (through Dr. Oscar Serralach) and Eastern esoteric traditions across India and Nepal such as Vajrayana Buddhism and Tantra, work that shaped her founding of SOMAMYSTICA®, a global training body now home to over 10,000 practitioners worldwide.
Sigourney built SOMAMYSTICA® while raising her daughter, and treats that success as evidence in itself: motherhood sharpens creative and entrepreneurial power rather than diminishing it.
She is the bestselling author of Wild Business, The Shape That Love Refuses to Take: Love as Magnum Opus, and When Eros Overthrows an Empire. Her recent published work, The MotherWild Revolution: Cultural Change through Generational Activism, explores motherhood as a force of sacred activism and generational transformation.
Through her writing, teaching, and clinical work, Sigourney Belle Weldon makes the case that mothers are not creativity’s casualties but its architects — building movements, businesses, and medicine from the very ground once thought to demand their retreat.
